The Balkans is one of the last great undiscovered wine territories in Europe. Ancient grape varieties, winemakers who still follow the rhythm of the land, cellars carved into limestone hills, and landscapes that feel completely untouched by the well-worn tourist trail. The experience is out there — but finding it, navigating it, and making it truly your own requires knowledge that only comes from years of being on the ground.

That is exactly what we offer. At Wine Tasting Balkans, we plan and organise private wine tours across the full breadth of the region — from the sun-baked vineyards of Herzegovina to the wild red soils of Serbia, from the Adriatic coastline of Dalmatia and Istria to the ancient winemaking traditions of North Macedonia and Montenegro. Every itinerary we build is created from scratch, around you.

What a Private Tour Actually Means

A private tour with us is not a group excursion with a fixed route and a generic tasting menu. It is a personally curated journey, built around your schedule, your interests, your pace, and the kind of wine experiences you actually want to have. If you want to spend a full afternoon in one cellar talking through fermentation philosophy with the winemaker, we arrange that. If you want a morning tasting followed by lunch with truffles and a long drive through a valley you have never heard of, we make that happen too.

We handle every logistical detail — winery appointments, private tastings, accommodation recommendations, restaurant reservations, transport coordination, and local guidance throughout. You arrive. We take care of the rest.

The Destinations We Know Best

Our portfolio of destinations covers the most compelling wine regions the Balkans has to offer. In Herzegovina, we take you deep into the stony karst landscapes around Mostar and Trebinje, where Žilavka and Blatina are grown on terraces that have been worked for centuries. In Serbia, the monasteries and vine rows of Fruška Gora, the continental warmth of Šumadija, and the remote Negotin border region each tell a completely different story about what Serbian wine can be.

Montenegro offers two distinct worlds: the urban energy of Podgorica’s emerging wine scene and the extraordinary stillness of the Skadar Lake basin, where Vranac grapes ripen against one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in all of southeastern Europe. In North Macedonia, the Tikveš region produces wines that regularly surprise even seasoned tasters, with indigenous varieties like Vranec and Temjanika grown at scale across a sun-drenched interior plateau.

On the Croatian side of the Adriatic, we know Istria and Dalmatia in genuine depth — from the amber wine producers of Motovun and the biodynamic cellars of Brtonigla, to the island vineyards of Hvar and Brač where Plavac Mali grows on near-vertical coastal slopes. These are not destinations we read about. They are places we have visited, tasted through, and built real relationships within.

Who This Service Is For

We work with wine lovers at every level — from those taking their first serious steps into the world of wine and wanting a knowledgeable guide, to experienced collectors and sommeliers seeking access to producers and tastings that are not publicly advertised. We also organise private group tours for small gatherings of friends, corporate incentive trips, and honeymoon wine journeys for couples who want something genuinely memorable.

If you have a specific region in mind, we will build an itinerary around it. If you are open to suggestions, we will ask the right questions and design something that fits your tastes, your travel style, and your timeline better than anything you could find off the shelf.
